The role and impact of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) on our lives is a matter of growing importance. In keeping with Dartmouth’s mission, Outreach and Engagement serves as a point of contact for partners outside our institution whose interests include STEAM awareness, STEAM education and STEAM literacy. These partnerships include national as well as regional efforts, such as enrichment activities with local schools, professional development for teachers, workshops for members of STEAM industries and projects that synthesize and interpret STEAM for public policy.
In addition to serving the public good, these interactions enrich institutional scholarship, foster civic engagement, and extend Dartmouth’s instructional capacity beyond traditional campus boundaries.
The office is directed by Elizabeth Ellis, and runs through the Office of the President and the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies at Dartmouth.
